Subsurfaces
2026
AMA House, Athens
Curated by Panos Giannikopoulos

The exhibition Subsurfaces explores the ground as a layer of accumulation of matter, memory, and historical processes, where geological change and human intervention are continuously intertwined. Through works developed from specific locations, soil is transformed into pigment, while landscape is translated into the surface of the image and a space of ongoing material transformation. Digitally mediated images, sculptural forms, and mechanical motion introduce different temporalities in which geological, technological, and personal memory intersect. The exhibition reflects on the relationship between image and ground at a moment when the experience of landscape is increasingly shaped through fragments, mediations, and unstable traces of reality.
